This is my buddy, Jeff, sitting in the flybridge of his fishing boat. He's going to show us how to catch the BIGGER Dungeoness crab.
This is Jeff's friend. I forget his name. We'll call him Ralph.
Jeff and Ralph usually fish WAY offshore out in the deeper areas of the ocean.
Here's Jeff chopping the-heck-out-of some squid. He's going to use it for bait in the crab pots.
After the crab pots are baited, Ralph assists them overboard. Their rig with a crane makes it so much easier to drop and retrieve the pots. Hmm...where could I mount one of these babies on the NP??
Here's Ralph measuring the crab to make sure it's big enough to keep. This one passes the test.
As do all of these!!
Sneaky little guys are always trying to get away!!
Mmm.....fresh crab, melted butter, lemons, cherries, grapes, sourdough bread and pasta salad. This is what our typical table looks like during crab season.
Jeff kept us supplied with crab and helped us learn how to catch them by ourselves.
We appreciate all the knowledge he shared with us.
Unfortunately, Jeff was diagnosed with Liver Cancer a few years ago
and he fought a long and very courageous battle with it.
We love him and will always remember his tremendous personality and generous nature!!
